Healthy and Stress Free Heart by Ayurveda

According to Ayurveda literature, the heart is considered to be one of the most important "MARMA", that is, a very vital part of human body. It is so important according to Ayurveda that it gets a separate mention in "TRI-MARMIYA" chapter by Charaka achrya as - ASHRAYA of atma, soul, and feelings. According to Ayurveda philosophy, how we feel in our hearts is the measure of who we really are, where as, what we think in our mind is often no more than a superficial impression, passing momentarily through us via the senses. This way, heart is even considered to be above mind and hence, heart diseases reflect deep seated issues of identity, feelings, and consciousness.
Heart diseases, nowadays, are a major reason behind death due to illness around the world. This is largely because in today's fast and competitive life, emotions and feelings are denied and ignored. Today's life aims more towards personal achievements rather than communion with others. Many of us literally die of broken hearts or spiritual starvation. The saints of Ayurveda understood this fact and prescribed Satvajaya chikitsa or mental hygiene for this. Heart, according to ayurvedic philosophy, is organ of emotions, and ayurvedic treatment for heart diseases emphasizes that emotional causes should always be considered first while treating heart ailments. Such causes include - difficulties in work or relationships, depression, low self-esteem etc.., which usually indicate that at inner level we are not in touch with our own hearts.
According to Ayurveda, heart is closely associated with Pranvah shrotas (Respiratory system), and Anavah shrotas (Digestive system). Ayurveda says that HRIDYA (Heart) has three functions - receiving, giving away and moving for continuous activity to execute two earlier functions. Circulation of blood and transportation of nutrients and oxygen through it are major functions of heart. If such vital organ is afflicted with disease pathology, naturally all life processes are also impaired to great extent.
Ayurveda has many herbs which are beneficial for different conditions of cardiovascular system. Amla - The Indian Gooseberry - is considered as the best rasyan or drink which mitigates all heart ailments or hriday-dosas. This edible fruit's tissue contains protein and ascorbic acid, having concentration much higher as compared to that present in apple. Many known antioxidants, Gallic acid, Catechol, Ellagic acid, Vitamin C, carotene, and superoxide-dismutase enzyme have also been reported to be present in this fruit. As Amla is also rich in natural flavonoids, thus it promotes health vigour and stamina too, thereby reducing cholesterol and blood sugar.
Arjuna Terminalia arjuna, according to Ayurveda, is another beneficial herb. It is good for heart, cures injury inside lungs, neutralizes toxins, effective in controlling fat, diabetes and wounds and mitigates kapha and pitta dosas. Arjuna active constituents include tannins, cardenolide, triterpenoid saponins (arjunic acid, arjunolic acid, arjungenin, arjunglycosides), flavonoids ellagic acid, calcium, magnesium, zinc, and copper. Using of Arjuna bark in milk is highly recommended for heart pain.
Today, there are many organizations which harness the powers of these herbs and add to them the usability of modern world by creating ayurvedic products and medicines. The products of companies like Baidyanath, Himalaya and few others have a range of medicines which are not only easy to take but also are close to nature there by keeping negative effects to minimal. For heart issues, there exists a range of Arjuna, Amla, and Cardiwin tonics. In Ayurveda, it is a belief that cardiac aliments, hypertension and dyslipidemia never occur alone but are supplemented by stress, tension, and thus the herbal preparations like stresswin, brain tab, ashwagandha and sarswat churan in ayurveda aim towards not only the curing of heart issues but also act as a soothing agent for the patient, calming him from inside. This all leads to less of stress along with resolving of heart ailment - leading to long lasting solution.

Treating Your Dental Problems With Porcelain Veneers

More and more people nowadays suffer from various tooth problems such as bent and out-of-proportion teeth, gaps and spaces between them, discolorations and worn-out enamel. While bigger treatments are available to remedy these big problems, some minor teeth defects can be dealt with a more appropriate treatment.
Porcelain veneers, or sometimes called as dental veneers or porcelain laminates, are considered to be a quicker and more suitable solution to cure these defects. These are wafer-like thin shells that are specially designed to cover up your front teeth so that you would achieve naturally looking teeth. They are permanently attached with special adhesives and are usually fitted and adjusted to cater your dental problems.
Since porcelain perfectly resembles natural tooth enamel, it is used to make these dental veneers so that it gives the patient a natural-looking set of teeth. On a normal tooth, light reflects and travels through the semi-transparent enamel, mirroring the dentin, the next tooth layer, which then gives our teeth a naturally pearly gleam. Porcelain works this way, thus, it is being used as a major composition in dental veneers and even is a widely used material in the cosmetic industry.
Aside from that, porcelain veneers also are not easily blemished as they are actually stain-resistant. Those who are fond of drinking coffee, tea, red wine, or even those who smoke need not worry now about teeth discoloration. If ever these veneers get stained, they can be easily polished and cleaned in a regular dental cleaning procedure such as brushing and flossing.
Since these are made from extremely durable material, porcelain veneers can last from 5 to 10 years. They could restore strength and functionality to your teeth; for instance, it helps in your strong bite building. Other than that, dental veneers also require minimal invasive procedures and can actually be customized for your convenience and to fit your dental needs.
But along all the benefits one can get from placing porcelain veneers, there are also risks that wait, although they are only very minimal. Patients may experience some minor tooth sensitivity right after the procedure. The monetary allotment for this procedure should also be given much thought as the cost usually varies, depending on the number of teeth being treated. In general, porcelain veneers range from $ 700 to $ 2,000 per tooth.
Porcelain veneers are a perfect way to treat stained, chipped or crooked teeth. Considering this, a bright, aligned and natural-looking smile can be achieved. Dental problems that have been a cause of discomfort and embarrassment for years can be cured with a quick and easy dental procedure.
It is important to remember that you discuss your medical history and raise any questions to your dentist before undergoing the dental process. Doing so can help you become aware of the benefits and possible risks you might get from this. Ensure that you are working with a reliable and qualified dentist when putting porcelain veneers to achieve a perfect and confident smile.

Zija - Reaching People You Don't Know

You've begun your career with Zija and hopefully are off to the races. Good for you! You've started your daily routine of drinking the miracle juice and you've talked to your friends and family about the amazing Moringa plant and the opportunity for everyone to get healthy. And you've explained the business opportunity that will help create additional income for everyone and incredible wealth for those who get the vision and really want to run with it.
What's next?
This is a typical question that almost everyone in the Zija organization asks at one point or another. What will you do to extend your reach to the great big world of those you don't know? How will you tell your story?
Before you get frustrated and throw in the towel or perhaps settle for mediocrity, let's examine options that you have available to broaden your market and help you control your own destiny and your future.
Here are 3 steps to insure your success with Zija and help you build the wealth you desire.
1. First, provide the very best training and support for your existing team. This is critical! When you shared your story with your friends and family and they opted in, they were buying in to YOU as much or more than they were buying your product or program. Don't underestimate the value of mentoring and holding their hands all through the process. Call them, visit with them, provide value! TIP #1 Set up a Mastermind Group for your team on Facebook where your members can discuss daily challenges and successes with other team members. Your input is critical but you'll find that team members will help other members with what they know. They will solve each other's problems and provide the necessary encouragement.
2. Stay focused on only 1 or 2 daily activities! If you are like most and really want success quickly, you are probably being pulled by many different marketing methods. Don't be fooled! Stick to only a couple of daily activities. This will allow you to become an EXPERT and others are drawn to experts! TIP #2 Have a daily activity and results calendar. Why? Each day you will want your activities to produce results. Measurable "wins" each day keeps you looking forward to the next day!
3. Get a constant flow of new leads. This is the most important but the least understood of all. If you are serious about your business, you have to have leads... every day. New people you can share you story with! Of course you can sit down with the telephone book every day and start calling people but this will ultimately lead to frustration and failure. No one likes to make "cold calls". YOU NEED TO BE TALKING TO PEOPLE EVERY DAY WHO WANT TO HEAR YOUR STORY! How do you make this happen? TIP#3 One of the most successful lead generation programs used by business leaders in your industry is MLSP, an educational program offering "fill in the blanks" products that literally assure your success because you will have people looking for you and the story you have rather than you being the aggressor. This is the NO SELLING approach to your business. An absolute MUST for every distributor! Please follow the link below in the resource section.
That's it. Start strong and stay strong! Zija, MLSP and you! An unstoppable team!

Determining the Seat Width for a Wheelchair

What is wheelchair seat width?
The seat width of a wheelchair is generally considered the width of the seat upholstery. When a wheelchair is referred to as a 18" wheelchair it means the width of the seat upholstery is 18" wide.
Why is wheelchair seat width important?
Having the correct seat width on a wheelchair is important for both comfort and function. Having the correct width of wheelchair is more important for users who spend longer hours in the wheelchair. For those who only use their wheelchair for short shopping trips or errands outside the home width is not as important.
Too narrow a width will cause the arms of the wheelchair to put pressure on the outside of the hips and thighs and could potentially cause pressure sores.
Too wide a width on a wheelchair will make it difficult for the user to reach the hand rims to propel the wheelchair and also prevent the wheelchair from being able to maneuver in small spaces.
Common wheelchair seat widths:
Standard widths for wheelchairs are 16" (narrow adult), 18" (standard adult) and 20" (wide adult). Smaller widths as narrow as 8" are available for children or really small adults and wider seat widths up to 28" and beyond are available for wider adults.
Although 2" increments have always been the standard for widths of wheelchairs, most custom-made wheelchairs are available in 1" increments so it is possible to order chairs in odd sized seat widths.
Determining the correct wheelchair seat width:
Originally the rule of thumb method of determining the correct seat width was to add 2" to the measured width of the user when seated at their widest point (usually the hips). The intention was to allow enough room for the user to sit comfortably while wearing a winter coat.
These days most wheelchair users do not spend a lot of time outdoors in cold weather and they don't wear long coats. Wheelchair users today usually wear jackets or short coats that don't need much, if any, added seat width.
The first step in determining the width needed is to have the user sit normally on a solid surface and measure their width across the widest part of their lap which is normally the hips. Some people have large thighs that, when sitting, may be wider than their hips. In this case the widest part of the thighs would be measured.
It is important that this measurement is taken straight across the lap. Usually using a yardstick is a better choice than a measuring tape because there is a tendency to wrap the measuring tape around the user from hip to hip which gives too large a measurement.
Once the width measurement of the user is known it is fairly easy to decide on the width of wheelchair needed with a few considerations:
  1. Removable arms on a wheelchair are mounted outside the seat frame so the seat width can be virtually the same as the width of the user.
  2. Fixed arms on a wheelchair may be mounted above the side edges of the seat and an extra 1" to 2" will need to be added to the user width.
  3. Some seating accessories such as hip guides, adductors or abductors may require additional width to the wheelchair seat. Users requiring special seating and accessories will normally have a professional of some type helping to decide the needs of the user and the specifications of the equipment.

Fire Benefits

Most people in cities all over the world are finding it hard to set aside time for down time. People are busy with work, assignments, school, sports, family obligations, church functions, shopping, last minute events or programs and much more. Does one ever stop to think when do I have time to relax and reboot? Think about it. We give our cars a break, we give our kids time to rest, and we even take days off every now and again. Wouldn't it be so refreshing to have a spot where you could just relax and reminisce at your very own home any time you need? One way that you can sit back and take time for yourself is beside a fire. Whether you are around an indoor or outdoor fire you will find that they are warm and inviting, therapeutic to many, and definitely relaxing.
A live wood burning fire is warm and inviting to you, your family and your guests. Home fires in your indoor or outdoor fire place on cold wintery nights offer a warm retreat feel for any setting or conversation. You will find that fires are congregation spots. Especially when the weather starts to cool and the windows are frosting over. Perhaps you will see your kids reading or playing games in front of the fire, you and your spouse cozied up on the couch, and hot drinks being passed around. Outdoor fire pits offer a warm spot for people to gather after playing in the fall leaves and woods. Friends and family will gather to cook over the fire, laugh and sing songs, and even work the fire together. Any way that you envision your evening or snow day the fire is definitely the way to warm up and gather people together.
Therapy sessions come in many forms and mediums. Some people go to doctors, some people exercise more, and others might simply enjoy a cup of coffee and good conversation with a friend or family member. Therapy can also come in different mediums. One of those mediums is a live wood burning fire. Sitting outside and smelling the fall breeze and listening to the crackle of the wood burning on the fire produces a very calming environment. Getting outside with a warm blanket and the fire whether you are by yourself or with a loved one will certainly help you to feel calm and rejuvenated. Even if you do not have a lot of time to invest remember a little bit goes a long way at the end of the day.
One can certainly see that fires are warm, inviting, therapeutic, and relaxing. The crackling sound, the smell of fresh wood burning, the warm drinks in hand and the cool fall breeze will definitely help you and yours to relax and gather together and enjoy each other around the fire.

Basic Meditation - Stress Relief

If you were to request individuals to list the stresses in their life, office stress would probably be on the list for the majority of those individuals. The duties and challenges of our work can sometimes seem overwhelming. This makes office stress relief crucial to a vibrant and happy life. There are a wide range of tips and strategies to keep job stress under control. Even doing merely one of these techniques will help decrease your stress levels.
Stress meditation resources are plentiful, and they are obtainable in nearly every medium and for practically every proficiency level. Classes and workshops can give instruction for beginner to advanced levels of stress meditation methods, while books and websites are outstanding resources for guiding your own practice at any stage. This is an art form that can be practiced for a lifetime with regular improvement, but the best way to commence is to merely sit down in a quiet place and dedicate yourself to trying. More sophisticated skills can then be learned as your skill progresses.
Basic meditation can be accomplished fairly easily. The first step is to locate a great place to begin your meditation. The location you pick should be free from distractions and comfortable. You should stay away from busy places or any location that you affiliate with work or other potentially stressful circumstances. Your house or a peaceful outdoor spot are good options. Make yourself relaxed in your chosen location by sitting or lying down. Next, close your eyes to prepare for your reflection. To start the progression toward clearing your mind of all thoughts, notice your thoughts but do not concentrate on them. Let them slide away without being completely developed. As soon as you are comfortable with the primary steps, carry on by starting to pay attention to the sound of your own breathing. Center all of your attention on this sound. Focus your attention on the air in your lungs and attempt to picture the course that the breath follows through your body. Feel the breath as you inhale, and sense the breath as you exhale. Continue repeating this process until you have pushed the stress from your body or you begin to lose control of your focus. As you train, you will be able to maintain your focus for longer periods and reduce your stress levels further and further with every attempt.
Trying several different meditation techniques is the best way to find one that suits your life. Meditation is a fantastic first step to stress reduction, and almost everyone can profit from its effects. Meditation merely needs a few minutes of your time every day, and those few minutes can go a long way toward reducing your stress levels.

Balancing Exercise and Healthy Eating

If you are like most people it is easier to exercise or eat right, not both. This is one of the main reasons we find it hard to lose weight. Exercising and eating healthy are both part of the equation. I personally find it easier to exercise than eat healthy. Unfortunately, this part is a big problem for me, because eating healthy is 60% of the equation and 40% is physical activity. If you are the person who finds it easier to eat healthy rather than exercise you are off to a great start. How do we balance this for successful weight loss?
Successful weight loss requires at least 5 days a week of healthy eating and physical activity. As we all know there are seven days in a week. To tackle our shortfalls we need to choose at least 3 days to start working out or eating healthy for starters.
If you are the one who has trouble exercising, my suggestion is start off walking for at least 30 minutes 3 times a week. This is one of the easiest and cheapest forms of physical activity. You walk somewhere everyday, either to your car, up the stairs in your home, down the hall of your job, we all walk is my point. Walking for exercise requires continuous movement for 30 minutes or more. Walking burns calories and improves your overall cardiovascular health.
Now if you chose walking as your form of activity you need to walk at a steady pace. If you can you should move your arms while you are walking to get the maximum calorie burn. All you need do is find 30 minutes a day for walking and work yourself up to 5 days. If you choose another form of physical activity such as running, jogging, video tapes, swimming, or joining a gym that is even better. Once you feel comfortable with your 3 days a week, move your routine up to 4 -5 days or increase your workout duration from 45 to 60 minutes each day.
Healthy eating is the largest part of the equation. We want to apply the same 3 day rule, which is to eat healthy at least 3 days and work our selves up to more days. It takes a greater amount of effort to eat right. Eating healthy means paying attention to what is going in your mouth as well as portion sizes. If you work packing your lunch everyday will keep you from the fast food restaurants. You will save money and you will have more control of what you are eating. One thing to remember regarding healthy eating is fruits and vegetables is King! Eat as many as you like. Lean meats and beans are excellent protein choices. Poultry and fish are also good sources of food. Experiment on those 3 days a week with some new healthy recipes you may find a new favorite.
